Natural Resources Chapter
9/7/04 Meeting Minutes
7-9pm, Sutton Town Hall
In attendance: Laura Scott, Leon Malan, Chris Kane, Ken Uzdanovich, Charles Forsberg, Bill and
Susan Uhl, Lois Palmer, Anita and Pete Blakeman, Kathie Ricker, Betsy Forsham, Marnee
Thompson
Conservation Land and Open Space. A paragraph will be inserted on the greenway system that
travels through Sutton. The Conservation Land Map will be updated to include the information on
pages 17-19.
There was much discussion about the trails component of the Recreation section of the Chapter.
Official Trails are those trails owned and maintained by the federal, state, or local government or
trails on land owned or with a conservation easement on it held by a nonprofit organization.
Snowmobile trails are not going to be considered official trails in the Master Plan. Laura will be
rewriting the trails component to reflect this decision.
Laura will insert additional language about Class A & B Trails, as provided in the RSAs.
Athletic Fields and Parks and Playgrounds will not be included in the Recreation Section.
Town Board Coordination section was removed from the Chapter. There was discussion about
inserting it into another Chapter in the Master Plan but no decision was made.
It was noted that the Land Conservation Strategies will be moved into an Appendix, which will be
done for all the chapters.
There were minor changes to the Conclusion.
Section VI of the agenda was moved to the next meeting.
The next subcommittee meeting for this chapter is scheduled for September 27th at 7pm at the
Town Hall. The draft chapter will be available 1 week prior to the meeting at the Town Hall and
on the town web site.
The public hearing for the chapter is scheduled for October 12th at 7pm at the Town Hall. The
Chapter and the maps will be made available 10 days prior to the hearing.
